Indon & India: perpetual honks but are pleasant sounding; they are basically saying "hello! i'm here!" "look out!"
Malaysia: usually happens during traffic jams or someone not exercising courtesy on the road (which is pretty common); their honks would sound really angry and mean "GET OUT OF MY WAY!" "You don't know how to drive-ah??"
Malaysian honks just sounds rude and angry. Somehow the honks in Indonesia (i was in Yogyakarta last week) seems more subdued and pleasant.
Another lesson in cultural differences :)
Here's the main road in Yogyakarta from the airport to our hotel.
I'm to call her Tita Ana - "Tita" means auntie.
She's there accompanying her husband and she's so sweet! (have i said that before? :)) She shared that she'd prayed she'd meet a friend in this foreign land, and there i was! haha! God answers prayers..
on my free day, i visited one of the Seven Wonders of the world - the Borobodur Temple. Made in the 700s. It's a Buddhist temple, if you didn't know. I didn't know it was one of the 7 Wonders till i did an internet search before i arrived in Yogyakarta.
my feeling visiting it? okay lah :) no spiritual significance to me but i admire the time and effort and meticulousness needed to make that thing. it was massive but i wasn't in awe of it. I was more in awe of the natural beauty in the hotel swimming pool area.. ;)
anyway, i thank God for the experience and the luxurious travelling arrangements that came with it.
which of the other 6 wonders should i visit next? hmm...
