swimming

Dory from "Finding Nemo":

Just keep swimming,
Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming...

so yes, i've finally managed to learn how to swim. Latest achievement yesterday was to swim a total of 200m in an Olympic sized pool. I had multiple stops in between of course and stayed real close to the wall but, it was an achievement, nonetheless :)

so says my beloved coach-cum-husband

new skill also is learning how to thread water. the whole process of threading water is rather hilarious i thought. Couldn't stop laughing when i started to learn it. Just seems funny somehow. Even a little unnatural - like you're meant to sink but fighting and struggle to not sink.

I still panic though. Cause i lose out on stamina pretty quickly and if i'm in the deeper side, my brain blanks out a little and don't know what to do. Hence, staying close to the wall. I can't even thread water for very long, so i guess that doesn't add much to my confidence level.

Nonetheless, my coach is pretty confident i'll get it soon. I started learning properly only early this year, so i have made good progress - especially mentally. I'm learning not to look down, seeing the depth of the deep and instead to look forward and see the end point.

I'm pretty gung-ho to practice more too. Cause i wanna get it and it's more fun than jogging / walking :P Main plus point is that you don't feel all sweaty and sticky! hahaha!

lots more to improve but i'm thankful for the progress so far.

yay :D
